Number cards in Cards refers to all cards ace through ten. Unless stated otherwise down this page, number cards have no special effect.

== Two ==
Two's are draw 2's. When played in the play pile, the effect is given to the next player in turn order. This may be stacked upon with Jokers, more twos, or face value going up in sequential order (ex. 3, then 4, then 5, etc.) regardless of the suit of any of those cards. The effect may also be Jacked Off or Counterspell-ed, again regardless of the suit of the face card. This effect does not apply when a two is used in War.

When played, you must say "Have a nice day" (or some variation thereof) or else be [[List of Penalties|penalized]].

== Eight ==
Eight's are wild cards, which function similarly to wild cards in other card-shedding games. They may be played upon any suit to change the suit of the play pile. Failure to say "Crazy Eights" when playing an eight is a penalty. Failure to then announce the new suit of the play pile is a separate, distinct penalty.

The name was deliberately chosen to be confusing and non-answer sounding to the question: "What are you playing?" Cards was originally Crazy Eights, but with added rules as it became "boring." Cards's rules slowly then became what they are today, over the course of two years (as of May 2026) after the introduction of Cards to the creators' friend group.

Neofeils: Added a sentence

Cards's initial setup is near-identical to [[wikipedia:Crazy_Eights|Crazy Eights]], but played with *every* card found in the box. Some 52 card decks contain a double-backed card: some Bicycle decks contain a "Get in the Game" card, these are all added to the draw pile. Seven cards are distributed to each player, then the remaining deck (the draw pile) is placed face-down somewhere within reach of all players. The table may agree to use [https://wiki.thyneality.com/index.php/Cards_Rules#Custom_Cards Custom Cards], which are brought out during card distribution. When ready, the dealer then flips the first card of the deck, and places it to the side of the draw pile. This is the play pile. Upon doing this, the game starts. Play begins with the dealer, after which turns go counter-clockwise. Before their first turn, the dealer must say "let it rip," else he or she gets penalized.
