Cards's initial setup is near-identical to Crazy Eights, but played with *every* card found in the box. Some 52 card decks contain a double-backed card: some Bicycle decks contain a "Get in the Game" card, these are all added to the draw pile. Seven cards are distributed to each player, then the remaining deck (the draw pile) is placed face-down somewhere within reach of all players. The table may agree to use Custom Cards, which are brought out during card distribution. When ready, the dealer then flips the first card of the deck, and places it to the side of the draw pile. This is the play pile. Upon doing this, the game starts. Play begins with the dealer, after which turns go counter-clockwise. Before their first turn, the dealer must say "let it rip," else he or she gets penalized. The play pile functions like the discard piles from Crazy Eights and Uno. On the other side of the draw pile, is the discard pile, where cards are placed after being discarded.
